Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all purpose or bread flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 7 oz. warm water
- 1 1/2 tsp rapid rise yeast
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Measure warm water and put 2 oz. in a small bowl or cup with yeast. Stir till dissolved.
- Put the remainder of the water in another bowl/cup. Add salt and vegetable oil.
Measure honey. Scoop out a tablespoon or so of honey and stir into the water/yeast mixture. Stir just till dissolved and allow to rest.
- Add the remainder of the honey to the water/salt/oil mixture. Stir.
- Set up your food processor with the metal blade used for chopping. You may have a "dough mixing blade" but these often do not work as well as the chopping blade."
- Place flours in the food processor. Pulse once or twice to mix.
- If your water, yeast, honey mixture has not started to get foamy, take a little break. It needs 5-7 minutes.
- When your yeast mixture is foamy turn on the food processor and slowly add it to the flours. Then, after one last stir, add the water/salt/oil/honey mixture. Allow the food processor to continue to run. When the dough comes together in a large lump and begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl stop the food processor.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for a few minutes until smooth and a little stretchy.
- Place in a greased bowl. Spritz PAM over the top. Cover with plastic wrap. Cover with a dish towel and place in a warm place for an hour to an hour and a half.
- When the dough has doubled in size turn it out onto the floured surface again and knead a bit. Shape your loaf.
- After shaping your bread, allow it to rest for 15-20 minutes while you clean up the kitchen.
- Bake at 350 degrees. Baking time will vary depending upon the shape of your loaf.
- Cool bread on wire rack.
- Enjoy!
